Easy Guacamole

Summer season is here and it means lots of grilling and get togethers and this guacamole recipe is perfect for those events. I make guacamole in so many different ways and hope to share more of those versions with you in the near future!

Guacamole is so much more than a dip, it’s perfect to top chili lime shrimp and Mexican chicken tacos!

Why This Easy Guacamole Is So Good!

  • Quick and easy: It takes less than 10 minutes to whip up a batch of this guac with a few simple ingredients.
  • Versatile: Use this as a dip, a topping or as a spread in a sandwich or on toast.
  • Healthy: Guac is a great healthy dip. Loaded with healthy fats from the avocado this vegan dip contains no added sugar.

Guacamole Ingredients

  • Avocados
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • Lime Juice
  • Cilantro
  • Purple Onion

Another ingredient I sneak in there, but very lightly, is cumin powder. It gives just a tiny hint of cumin flavor, which I love with all avocado salad recipes.

How To Make Guacamole From Scratch

  • Mince the garlic, dice the onions and chop the cilantro.
  • Add in the lime juice, salt and cumin powder.
  • Peel the avocados, remove the stone and mash them with a fork.
  • Fold everything together well and pour in a bowl. Drizzle some olive oil (optional) and serve with tortilla and pita chips.

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • Use ripe avocados that give a little when you squeeze them. Unripe avocados will be less creamy and harder to mash. I use avocados that are not too ripe, this gives the guacamole a nice green color. Buy them just about ripe but not too soft.
  • Mash the avocados by hand with a fork. Don’t be tempted to use a food processor. This will result in a soupy guacamole!
  • If you don’t like the taste of cilantro you can swap this with some fresh parsley so that you still get a herby hit of freshness.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does homemade guacamole keep?

Because there is lime juice in this guacamole, it slows down the browning process. Keep the guac covered in the fridge and it will keep well for 1 to 2 days.

What else can you add to guacamole?

This easy guacamole recipe is the perfect base to add other ingredients to to suit your tastes. Try adding in:

  • Tomatoes
  • Roasted jalapeno
  • Mango
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Salsa
