Frequently asked questions

What to serve with this salad

My kids LOVE this Avocado Mango Salad. It is very kid friendly and goes with almost everything. We serve it with grilled foods or even non-grilled foods. I serve it all the time during our BBQ gatherings. I recommend grilled chicken, grilled salmon, grilled shrimps or even grilled steaks to serve along with the recipe. It also pairs well with other sides you may serve with your proteins such as white rice or fries.

How do I know when a Mango is ripe?

Squeeze gently to judge ripeness. A ripe mango will give slightly, indicating soft flesh inside. Use your experience with produce such as peaches or avocados, which also become softer as they ripen. Ripe mangoes are golden in color and will sometimes have a fruity aroma at their stem ends.

Can I make this salad ahead of time?

This recipe is best served fresh because the avocadoes do change color over a short period of time. You can prepare all the ingredients ahead if you like without the avocados, and then add in the avocados right before you serve. You can store any left overs in an air tight container in the fridge.

Made many times and love it.
One trick is to put avocado pit back in salad and avocado will not brown
    Take back out when serving
    Same goes for Guac dip
    Enjoy

    1. No it’s one serving. The recipe makes 4 small servings as a side. I am not sure why it was displaying the gram. Hope that helps.

Made this at my husband’s request. I’d never had it, or made it before. I made it for a 4th of July party, exactly as the recipe states. Everyone LOVED it and it was still in demand the next day, though none was left…many asked for the recipe. It is a recipe I will make again. The unlikely pairing is really good, fresh and light.

How joyful! Question-my fiancé is one of those to whom cilantro tastes like soap 🙁 Any ideas for a substitute? Can’t wait!
