Frequently asked questions
What to serve with this salad
My kids LOVE this Avocado Mango Salad. It is very kid friendly and goes with almost everything. We serve it with grilled foods or even non-grilled foods. I serve it all the time during our BBQ gatherings. I recommend grilled chicken, grilled salmon, grilled shrimps or even grilled steaks to serve along with the recipe. It also pairs well with other sides you may serve with your proteins such as white rice or fries.
How do I know when a Mango is ripe?
Squeeze gently to judge ripeness. A ripe mango will give slightly, indicating soft flesh inside. Use your experience with produce such as peaches or avocados, which also become softer as they ripen. Ripe mangoes are golden in color and will sometimes have a fruity aroma at their stem ends.
Can I make this salad ahead of time?
This recipe is best served fresh because the avocadoes do change color over a short period of time. You can prepare all the ingredients ahead if you like without the avocados, and then add in the avocados right before you serve. You can store any left overs in an air tight container in the fridge.

Made many times and love it.
One trick is to put avocado pit back in salad and avocado will not brown
Take back out when serving
Same goes for Guac dip
Enjoy

What is the serving size of this salad? It says 1g, is this a typo?
No it’s one serving. The recipe makes 4 small servings as a side. I am not sure why it was displaying the gram. Hope that helps.

Glad you enjoyed it Debra! Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it.
Made this at my husband’s request. I’d never had it, or made it before. I made it for a 4th of July party, exactly as the recipe states. Everyone LOVED it and it was still in demand the next day, though none was left…many asked for the recipe. It is a recipe I will make again. The unlikely pairing is really good, fresh and light.
Glad y’all enjoyed the recipe Janice!

You mention adding olive oil but you don’t say how much
it’s based on your preference. A couple tablespoons will be good.

Hi Vera!
Glad you enjoyed the salad! Thanks for leaving a review.
This was a nice sunner salad, but I felt it needed something more, so I added a couple of handfuls of baby spinach. Baby arugula would be another nice option.
Hey Marie!
Always feel free to add and subtract whatever you like to your liking 🙂
How much olive oil? It’s not mentioned in the ingredients.
delicious!
Thanks for the review Connie! Glad you enjoyed it.
This recipe looks great, but it mentions adding the olive oil and salt at the end, but the ingredients listed do not include olive oil? How much olive oil do you use?
Hi Tracey!
Thanks for checking in on that. You can add as much as you like on those based on your liking. I drizzle about 2 tbsps. of olive oil, but it all depends on you. Some people watch calorie and fat intake so you can do less if you like and the quantity you make also changes things. There is no right or wrong measurement, so just put as much as your feel comfortable using.
