  • Butter and Olive Oil: Combining butter and olive oil provided browning power and flavor.
  • Cajun Seasoning: Cajun seasoning is made with a blend of black pepper, white pepper, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and other ingredients depending on the brand.
  • Paprika: adds color and flavor. Substitute smoked paprika if desired.
  • Garlic: Use freshly minced garlic for the most flavor.
  • Lemon: slice a fresh lemon into rounds for baking and as a garnish.
  • Chopped Parsley: to garnish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is cod?

Cod is a sweet and mild white fish that’s not overly fishy in flavor. It’s loaded with protein and contains less mercury than other white fish.

How to know when cod is done?

Cod should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F when checked with a meat thermometer. Fish will continue to cook after being removed from the oven, so it’s typically safe to take it out when the temperature reads 135 degrees F. The fish should be opaque in color and flake easily with a fork.

Should I cover fish in the oven?

You do not need to cover the fish while it bakes in the oven.

How to store and reheat Cajun baked fish?

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat the fish in the oven for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees F. You can also gently reheat in the microwave until warmed through.

Can I freeze Cajun cod?

Yes. Cool the fish filets completely before placing in an airtight container. Freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge.

What to serve with Baked Cajun Cod?

Fish always pairs well with rice or roasted potatoes. I also like to serve fish with fresh vegetables like Cheesy Broccoli Bites, green beans, asparagus, Roasted Brussels Sprouts or a salad.
