FAQ’s

Choosing the best sweet potatoes for smashing

When shopping for the sweet potatoes, I usually grab the ones that have the same thickness almost all the way thought. This is because you don’t want some potato rounds to be smaller and the rest bigger, causing an imbalance of cooking. When all the pieces are the same size almost, they will all cook together right. Wash the potatoes very well before cutting them into round. You want them to be at least 1 inch thick.

What to serve with these Smashed Sweet Potatoes

  • Grilled Chicken
  • Grilled Shrimp
  • Turkey
  • Grilled Steaks
  • Whole Rotisserie Chicken
  • Grilled Fish

In general I would serve sweet potatoes with healthier protein option.

Swaps and add ins

If you prefer to not add garlic and herbs to this recipe, you can always enjoy it plain or with added butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. This option would be more for people who are not watching their sugar and carb intake.

Sweet potatoes are usually a healthier option than regular potatoes for some, but if you do not like sweet potatoes, you can always make my Parmesan Herbed Roasted Potatoes recipe, which has a similar concept but with regular golden Yukon potatoes. They are both so delicious you can’t possibly go wrong either way.
