BBQ Chicken Ingredients
- Chicken: use boneless, skinless chicken breasts. You can use other cuts but must adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Olive Oil: or use any light, neutral flavored oil.
- Seasoning: combine smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and black pepper or your favorite seasoning blend.
- BBQ sauce: choose your favorite brand of BBQ sauce. I love sweet baby rays.
- Green Onions: to garnish.
How To Make Baked BBQ Chicken
- Prepare the equipment. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a baking dish with oil and set aside.
- Season the chicken breasts. Combine paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the remaining oil over the chicken breasts and coat well with the seasonings.
- Bake the chicken. Arrange the chicken breasts into the prepared baking dish and brush the BBQ sauce over the chicken. Bake the chicken for 20 minutes. Flip the chicken to brush again with the BBQ sauce and pour the remaining BBQ sauce and continue to bake for 10 more minutes.
- Slice and serve. Once done, slice the chicken breast and serve while it is still warm.
Tips To Make Oven Baked Barbecue Chicken
- Smoked paprika adds a smoky flavor to the chicken, but you can use regular paprika.
- Add a little crushed red pepper or cayenne pepper to give this chicken a little heat.
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and the seasoning will stick better.
- To easily coat the chicken with the seasoning, pour the oil, herbs and spices into a gallon-sized zip-top bag along with the chicken. Seal and shake the bag to coat everything well.
- Use store-bought BBQ sauce to make this recipe super easy.
- If your chicken breasts are very large, slice them in half lengthwise or pound them with a meat mallet to shorten the cooking time.
- Let the chicken breast rest for several minutes before slicing.
