  • Olive Oil: Use your favorite, light neutral-flavored oil. 
  • Aromatics: freshly minced garlic and grated ginger add flavor and aroma. 
  • Soy Sauce: Use low sodium soy sauce, gluten free tamari or liquid aminos if preferred. 
  • Rice Vinegar: Mild and sweet rice vinegar can be substituted with apple cider vinegar. 
  • Honey: Use raw, local honey for the best flavor and the most health benefits. Substitute with pure maple syrup if preferred. 
  • Sesame Seeds: Toasted sesame seeds have a nutty flavor and crunchy texture.

How To Make Salmon Bites

Marinate and sear salmon bites.
  • Prepare the salmon. Pat dry the salmon cubes with a paper towel and season them with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Pour about a tablespoon of oil and massage the salmon cubes.
  • Pan sear the salmon. Heat a heavy skillet with a tablespoon of oil, add the salmon cubes in a single layer and cook for 4-5 minutes by flipping them often until crispy and golden. Transfer the cooked crispy salmon cubes to a plate and cook the remaining salmon.

  • Make the honey garlic sauce. Add the remaining oil and garlic and ginger to the same skillet. Saute for a minute. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Simmer the sauce for 3-5 minutes until it thickens.

  • Toss salmon bites with sauce. Transfer the crispy salmon back to the skillet and toss it well with the sauce. Check for seasonings.

  • Dry the salmon with paper towels to get rid of any extra moisture. 
  • Cube the salmon into even pieces for even cooking. 
  • Gently toss the salmon with seasoning until all the pieces are well coated. 
  • Add cayenne pepper to the seasoning blend to give the salmon a spicy kick. 
  • Allow the salmon to marinate in the seasoning mixture for 30 minutes to an hour if you have time.

  • 1 ½ lb salmon, skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons chopped chives
