Tips and Notes

  • Since we are leaving the skin on these french fries, be sure to give them a good scrub before you cook them. Just be sure to pat them dry before coating with seasoning. If you don’t pat them dry, they will become soggy when you air fry them instead of crisping up.
  • Time may vary with different models of air fryers so I suggest you take a peak around the 12 minute mark.
  • If you can’t find russet potatoes, Yukon potatoes are a great alternative.
  • Remember, do not crowd your air fryer. You want there to be enough space that the hot air can circulate and touch all of your fries so they can all crisp up. If overcrowded, some of your fries might not crisp up.
  • We love serving this with ketchup but you can also try bbq sauce, ranch, garlic sauce, spicy mayo, or whatever is in your fridge! French fries go with everything!

FAQs

Why do I have to soak the potatoes?

When you soak the potatoes, it helps remove some of the starch, which will help them crisp up better in the air fryer. If you have more time, you can soak them a little longer.

How do I store leftovers? How do I reheat them?

You can store leftover french fries in the fridge for up to 4 days in an airtight container. You can reheat them in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 375 F or until it’s heated through. The air fryer will keep them crispy compared to microwaving them.

What other seasonings can I use?

You can season these fries however you’d like! Try cajun seasoning, dried herbs, Italian seasoning, truffle salt, freshly grated parmesan, flavored salts, herbs de provence, and more! You can even use nutritional yeast or popcorn seasoning as well!

Can I freeze this?

You can technically freeze the French fries before air frying by blanching them, but I suggest just making them whenever you’re craving them as it’s best served freshly made!
