Why You’ll Love these Tiktok Baked Oats

  • It’s fun! What’s more fun than getting to have sprinkles or chocolate breakfast.
  • It can easily be scaled up. Easily double or triple the ingredients, grab more ramekins, and you’ve got yourself enough breakfast baked oats for the week.
  • It’s customizable. You can easily change up the recipe!

Main Baked Oats Ingredients

  • Oatmeal — You need old fashioned rolled oats for this recipe. If you don’t have any in hand, you can use quick oats.
  • Maple Syrup — this can be adjusted for how sweet you’d like your baked oats to be. If you don’t have maple syrup, you can substitute with honey.
  • Baking Powder– this helps the oats rise and give a nice cakey texture.
  • Whole Egg — no need to worry about having it chilled or room temperature.
  • Vanilla Extract — use only pure vanilla extract
  • Milk — helps add moisture to the batter
  • Salt — just a pinch to balance the sweetness.

3 Delicious Baked Oats Variations:

Funfetti Baked Oats

  • Melted Butter—use unsalted butter.
  • Rainbow Sprinkles — pick whatever sprinkles you and your kids like.

How to Make Baked Oats

  • Prepare the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the rack in the middle of your oven.
  • Blend up the ingredients: In a blender, blend all the ingredients together, except for the add-ins (chocolate chunks, sprinkles, white chocolate wafer chips) until nice and smooth.
  • Add the batter to the ramekin: Spray the ramekin with baking spray. Pour in the batter and top with the add-ins (chocolate chunks, sprinkles, white chocolate wafer chips). You can also push some of the chunks of chocolate or sprinkles in the batter if you want them incorporated inside the dough as well.

  • Bake the oatmeal: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Depending on your oven it may take a little less or a little more. So just check for doneness at around 20 minutes. The dough should not be jiggly in any way, but you also do not want to over cook.
  • Cool and enjoy: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Drizzle some melted chocolate and/or creamy peanut butter on top or your favorite topping.

Tips for Making Easy Baked Oats

  • Grease ramekins with baking spray before filling.
  • Be sure to measure the baking powder and don’t eye-ball it. The baking powder helps the baked oats rise and keeps it from being dense and heavy. Too much and it’ll change the taste of the baked oatmeal.
  • Be sure to use a high speed blender. You want the ingredients to be well blended.
  • Due to the batter’s thickness, you’ll have to later stir in the chocolate chips/sprinkles/mix-ins if you want it mixed inside of the dough.
  • The maple syrup can be swapped for honey if you’d prefer.
  • These baked oats last for 2 to 3 days in the fridge, but I prefer eating it warm and fresh.
  • I recommend using a Dutch processed cocoa powder as it is darker and fudgier. My go-to brand is Ghirardelli.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are baked oats healthy?

Even though the texture is like cake and we put chocolates and sprinkles on top, this baked oatmeal is healthy! At the end of the day, it’s oatmeal! And oatmeal is a healthy way to start the day off.

What size ramekin to use for baked oats?

I use 8 oz. ramekins. If you do not have an 8 oz. ramekin, you can use two smaller ones. Just check on your oats easier as the bake time will be less with a smaller ramekin.

Can you steel cut oats instead of old fashioned oatmeal for baked oats?

No, do not use steel cut oats to make baked oats. The baked oats blend up rolled oats which essentially has it acting as oat flour. Steel cut oats will not give you the same effect.

Can you add protein powder to baked oats?

You can definitely add a tablespoon of protein powder to your baked oats batter (vanilla and chocolate), but be sure to add an additional tablespoon of milk when you do so.

How to make vegan baked oats?

You can swap the egg for a flax egg to make it vegan and use almond, oat, or coconut milk instead of whole milk. Be sure to also use vegan butter or substitute the butter with non flavored coconut oil.

How to make baked oats in the microwave?

To cook the baked oats in the microwave, follow the same directions and cook for 90-120 seconds.
