Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use other chicken cuts?

This versatile recipe can be made with your favorite chicken cuts. Try using bone-in or boneless chicken breasts, chicken tenders or bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs. Adjust the cooking time accordingly.

How long does it take to cook chicken thighs in the air fryer?

Boneless, skinless chicken thighs will cook in the air fryer in about 20 minutes. Chicken should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. Because chicken thighs tend to be juicier, they can be cooked to 170 degrees F. Cook the chicken almost completely, adding the barbecue sauce during the last few minutes to prevent the sauce from burning.

How to store and reheat BBQ chicken thighs?

BBQ chicken thighs can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the lowest setting of your air fryer to avoid burning the barbecue sauce.

Can I freeze air fryer barbecue chicken thighs?

Yes. Store these chicken thighs in a ziplock bag in the freezer for up to 3 months. Defrost overnight in the fridge. Reheat in the air fryer.

What to serve with BBQ chicken thighs?

BBQ chicken can be served with almost anything, but our favorites include coleslaw, Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Potato Cobb Salad, Mexican Street Corn, Easy Macaroni Salad, and Creamy Baked Mac and Cheese.
