Pastina Pasta Ingredients
- Chicken broth: The nutrition lies here. Using homemade broth or bone broth with fresh ingredients packs a punch!
- Pastina/Stelline pasta: Star shaped or stelline pasta can be found at major grocers and is the authentic, preferred Italian pasta for this dish.
- Spices: Salt and pepper to taste, and for a unique spin add your favorite herbs!
- Butter & Parmesan: The final and crowning addition is creamy butter and rich Parmesan. Use freshly grated Parmesan to ensure it melts well. Pre-grated will not melt right.
How To Make Pastina Pasta
Step 1: Boil the broth. To a medium Dutch oven, add the chicken broth and bring it to a boil.
Step 2: Cook the pasta. Add the stelline pasta and cook for 8-9 minutes, until almost 90% done.
Step 3: Season. Season the pasta with salt and pepper. Add 2 tablespoons of butter, followed by 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. (or more if you like)
