  • Chicken: Use chicken breasts and slice them horizontally into halves so they are thinner. 
  • Seasonings: Combine paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Vegetable Oil: Use your favorite light, neutral-flavored oil. 
  • Tortillas: I used burrito-sized flour tortillas, but you could substitute flavored or low carb tortillas. 
  • Cheese: Use shredded fontina cheese or white cheddar cheese.
  • Garlic Aioli: Garlic aioli is an emulsion of olive oil and garlic, but you can substitute garlic mayo. 
  • Cilantro: Adds a bright, fresh flavor.  
  • Avocados: Select avocados that are ripe but not mushy. 
  • Lemon Wedges: to serve.

How To Make Chicken Avocado Wrap

  • Season the chicken. Pat dry the chicken halves with a kitchen towel and season them with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  • Grill the chicken. Heat a grill pan or skillet with oil on medium heat. Once the oil is heated, add the chicken breast, cook for 4-5minutes and flip it on the other side to cook further until the chicken is cooked through. 
  • Slice the chicken. Once done, cut the chicken into strips and set it aside.

  • Assemble the wrap. Add about 2 tablespoons of cheese to the center of a tortilla to assemble the wrap. Add the chicken pieces, drizzle a tablespoon of garlic aioli and chopped cilantro, and top it with 3-4 slices of avocado. Seal the tortilla like a burrito.
  • Grill the wrap. Place the wrap in a grill pan and cook for 2-3 minutes, slice the wrap into halves and serve warm.

  • I prefer to slice the avocado, but you can cut it into chunks or mash it if desired.

Should wraps be eaten hot or cold?

This chicken avocado wrap is grilled just before serving, so it is warm but not hot. Most wrap sandwiches are designed to be eaten cold. 

How to store and reheat chicken wraps?

The prepared wraps will keep in the fridge for a day or two when covered. Grill them just before serving so the ingredients get warm and the cheese is melted. I prefer to prep all the ingredients and assemble the wraps just before serving. It only takes a few moments, and everything will taste much fresher. 

Can I freeze this easy chicken wrap?

Freezing these wraps is not recommended.

This flavorful grilled chicken avocado sandwich is made with ingredients you have on hand and can be prepped in advance for a quick on-the-go lunch option. Simply combine grilled chicken, sliced avocado, cheese and flavorful garlic aioli in a tortilla for the tastiest healthy chicken wrap.

Ingredients 

  • 2 whole chicken breasts, sliced horizontally into halves

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
