How To Make Air Fryer Rosemary Chicken

  • Preheat: the air fryer to 380 F.
  • Prepare the chicken: Trim and clean the chicken breast from any excess fats and pat dry. Transfer to a bowl.
  • Marinate the chicken: Add in the remainder of the ingredients to marinate the chicken. If you have time to let it marinade, feel free to do so but it’s not required.
  • Air fry the chicken: Place the chicken in the air fryer and spray with some oil. Cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway though and brush with leftover marinade from the bowl.
  • Rest: Remove from the air fryer and set on a plate. Cover with foil wrap and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with your favorite side dish.

Tips and Notes

  • The cooking time will vary based on the size of the chicken breast. It may need more time if the breasts you are making are larger in size or less time even if they are smaller in size. Use an instant thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken. It should be at 165F.
  • Do not skip resting the chicken. When the chicken sets for 5 minutes, it allows the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken breasts. If you cut into it too early, all the juices will flow out!
  • For easy clean up, we line the air fryer with a piece of parchment. If you are using a dishwasher and don’t mind the marinade dripping through, you can air fryer this without parchment.
  • You can marinate chicken in a Ziploc bag and leave it in the fridge overnight.

FAQs

Can I use fresh rosemary for this rosemary chicken?

Yup! You can definitely use fresh rosemary. You’ll just need to add more rosemary as fresh is less concentrated as dried.

Is air frying healthier than traditional frying?

Air frying is healthier than traditional methods of frying because only a thin layer of oil coats the food and when the hot air comes in contact it will cook, crisping up. This saves you fat and calories because food is not being submerged in a vat of hot oil. The best part? All that flavor is retained and the chicken.

How do I store the chicken?

Store your cooked breasts, unsliced in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge. You can reheat this throughout the week to enjoy or shred it up and add it to a salad, cold. When reheating, you can add in a splash of chicken broth and then cover when microwaving. This creates a bit of steam and keeps your chicken breasts from being dried out.

Can I freeze this? How?

You can freeze your chicken breasts after cooking them. Simply let the breasts cool and then transfer it to an airtight freezer bag. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat when ready to use.

What to do with leftover chicken?

There are a few ways you can use cooked rosemary chicken breasts. You can enjoy it on it’s own with a side of rice or quinoa, you can top a salad with some sliced chicken breasts, you can shred it up and add it to soups, stew, tacos, burritos, casserole, and more!

How do I zest a lemon without a zester?

You can carefully use a vegetable peeler to get the lemon skin off and then cut it up finely with a knife.
