FAQ’s
Variations to these Nutella Swirl Banana Muffins
If you like nuts, you can add crushed walnuts to the banana muffin mixture or simply just throw it on top of the Nutella swirl. If you don’t want to use Nutella, you can use the same base mixture and add some chocolate chips instead.
You can also omit all the chocolate options and use this recipe as a regular banana muffin. I love adding at least some walnuts to mine when I make them without chocolate.
What are the best bananas to use?
The best bananas for these Nutella Swril Banana Muffins aren’t yellow, they are almost black. At the very least they are streaked with black/brown, with just the barest touch of green at the stem.
The darker the better, really! There’s no such thing as a too-ripe banana when you’re making these banana muffins!
How can I ripen bananas quickly?

A tried and tested way is to ripen bananas in a paper bag. If you have more time, place bananas in a paper bag with an apple. Fold and secure closed. You can usually leave bananas like this for a full day.
Can I freeze these Nutella Swirl Banana Muffins?
Absolutely! After baking, allow the banana muffins to cool fully then freeze in zip lock bags and use as needed for breakfast of snack time and even kids lunch boxes!

Tried these last night. Super soft muffins and hit with the kids because of the chocolate. Love how they are not overly sweet. Definitely a winner! Thank you ๐
