Recipe notes and tips

  • Use a large pan/skillet or wok.
  • Make sure your pan is hot before adding your ingredients.
  • Prep your ingredients before firing up the pan, things move quick!
  • For really thin steak strips you can place your meat in the freezer for 30 mins. This makes for firmer meat which you can slice more thinly.
  • Cut your slices into even sized strips, so they cook evenly.
  • Keep everything bite sized! All your ingredients should be bite sized, this way they cook quickly and you can get more flavors on you fork!
  • Stick to oils with high smoke points, like vegetable oil, grape seed, canola or avocado. Avoid low smoke point oils like olive oil.
  • If you want it milder, omit the jalapeno/chili pepper.
  • Garnish with toasted sesame seeds for a pop of crunch!
  • Fell free to toss in other veggies, but be wary that harder veggies can take longer to cook.

FAQ’s

What to serve with this Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

You can serve this yummy stir fry over noodles, rice or quinoa. If you’re watching your carbs, you could also use cauliflower rice.

What’s the best sauce to use on this stir fry?

I went for go-chu-jang sauce, it’s a bold flavor that works perfectly in a stir fry. This sauce is salty, with an almost meaty depth and a slight sweetness.

You can get different levels of heat with go-chu-Jang sauce, from mild to super hot, so choose according to your spice level!

If you want, you can also go for Oyster or Hoisin sauce, they both bring a slightly more savory flavor, with less heat, and are just as delicious!

Variations to this Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

This stir fry is delicious as it is, but you can certainly add your own twists! Here’s some ideas:

  • Protein: Instead of strip steak, try ground beef, ground chicken, sliced chicken breast, shrimp, or tofu.
  • Vegetables: Add other veggies such as bok choy, snow peas, mushrooms, baby corn or bell peppers.
  • Add-Ins: You can add sriracha or chili oil for a bit of spice. Instead of sesame seeds you could add crushed cashews, peanuts or almonds for a different texture.

Can you make this for meal prep?

Absolutely! For meal prep, just add cooled rice to a heat-safe container then top with the Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry, cover and refrigerate until ready to heat and serve. This Beef and Broccoli can be refrigerated up to 4 days.
