Apple Oatmeal Cookies Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make healthy apple pie oatmeal cookies.
  • Quick-cooking oats: make sure to not get steel-cut oats as the texture won’t be right.
  • Whole wheat flour: fluff the flour before measuring it to avoid over-packing the flour.
  • Baking powder and baking soda: make sure these have not expired. They will help your cookies rise and not dense.
  • Spices: I use cinnamon and nutmeg to give my cookies a warming flavor.
  • Salt: just a pinch for flavor.
  • Egg: this will help with binding things together.
  • Butter: you can also use coconut oil.
  • Maple syrup: use real maple syrup and not pancake syrup.
  • Apples: make sure to peel the apples before adding them to the cookie dough.

Frequently Asked Questions About Oatmeal Cookies

Are oatmeal cookies actually healthy?

Oatmeal cookies are a little healthier than regular cookies as they do contain oatmeal. Oatmeal is full of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants so they make for a great addition to the cookies.

Why do my oatmeal cookies taste dry?

If your cookies are dry, you most likely added too much flour. Also overmixing cookie dough will develop the gluten in the flour, which can lead to tough cookies. Avoid using a mixer and just combine everything in a bowl by hand.

What apples should I use?

You can use any type of apple for these healthy apple pie oatmeal cookies. I like fuji, honeycrisp, ambrosia, and granny smith. But use what you have on hand.

How do I store cookies?

You can store these cookies in an airtight container for a few days at room temperature. These cookies can also be frozen for up to a month.
