Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: American
Servings: 15 rolls
- 4 cups cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
- 3 tsps Instant yeast
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 6 tbsps unsalted butter softened
- 2 whole eggs room temperature
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- ½ cup whole milk lukewarm
- ¾ tsp salt
- 2 tsps vanilla extract
Egg Wash
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 1 whole egg
- 2 tsps milk
Butter Glaze
- 2 tbsps unsalted butter melted
In a stand mixer, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix with a whisk until just combined.
Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add eggs, pineapple juice, milk, and vanilla extract. Using a hook attachment, knead on low speed for 5 minutes. Add in the butter gradually while mixing, and mix for 2 more minutes until the dough comes together.
Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with cling wrap, and allow it to proof for 1½ to 2 hours until it has doubled in size (Depending on the temeprature of your room).
Punch down the dough and transfer it to a floured dusted surface. Divide the dough into 15 equal-sized balls and line the dough balls into a 9 x 13 non-stick/ lined baking dish (or spray with non stick baking spray), 5 rows by 3. Cover and let the dough rest for at least another hour until the dough balls double in size.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Brush the dough balls with the egg wash and place the baking tray on the middle rack of the oven and bake the rolls for 22-25 minutes until the tops are golden.
Once they come out of the oven, brush them with melted butter. Allow to cool for at least 5-7 minutes before serving.

- NOTES FOR USING HONEY. This recipe was adapted to replace honey with sugar. If you prefered the honey version, it was originally 1/4 cup of honey instead of 3/4 cup sugar. Add 2 tablespoons of flour to this recipe if you use honey instead. Users mentioned it wasn't sweet enough that's why it was adapted.
- Always check the expiry date on your yeast.
- Adjust sweetness: If you prefer the rolls to be more sweet, add an extra 1/4 cup of sugar.
- Proof the Yeast: If using active yeast, ensure your yeast is active by proofing it in warm milk with a bit of sugar before mixing it into the dough.
Let it Rise: Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free area until it has doubled in size for the fluffiest rolls.
- Brush with Butter: Brushing the rolls with melted butter after baking to adds a rich flavor and color.
- Don't Overbake: Keep an eye on the rolls in the oven and remove them when they are just golden brown to maintain their softness.
