Servings: 8 servings
- 8 slices brioche toast bread cut into 1-inch thick slices
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 tsp. orange zest (approximately the zest of 1 small orange)
- 1 tsp. vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
- ¼ cup Florida's Natural No Pulp Orange Juice
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp. Unsalted butter
Suggested Toppings
- Maple syrup
- Fresh fruits
- Cinnamon sugar
In a bowl, mix the eggs well with the heavy cream, vanilla sugar, orange juice, and orange zest.
Place a nonstick griddle or skillet over medium heat, and melt 1 tbsp. of butter in the pan.
Drench each piece of French toast into the custard mixture on both sides, until moist throughout but not soggy. Add directly into the hot skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown on the outside and fully cooked through.
Remove from the pan and serve topped some maple syrup and fresh fruit. You can also sprinkle a dash of cinnamon sugar on top if you like.
- Mix your egg wash thoroughly to avoid any egg whites congealing on the toast.
- Use a preheated griddle or pan so you can get a nice crisp on the French toast.
- Stick to a medium heat when cooking this Orange French Toast. Too high and you’ll
burn the coating, too low and the bread will dry out.
- It's best to use a big griddle or pan so you can cook multiple pieces at once.
- Wipe down the pan between batches and reapply the butter. This way you'll avoid coating your toast in burnt butter!
- Do not make the slices thicker than 1 inch—if the bread is too thick, you will be left with a raw center.
