Air Fryer Parmesan Asparagus

Air fryer parmesan asparagus is a delicious and healthy side dish you can easily prepare at home.  Cooking asparagus in air fryer gets it perfectly crispy, and the parmesan adds a nice salty flavor. You can also add other seasonings or spices of your choice to customize the air fryer roasted asparagus flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. asparagus ends trimmed, Medium thickness.
  • Olive oil spray
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ¼ tsp. Salt
  • fresh cracked black pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp. Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  • Wash, and trim the ends of the asparagus spears and transfer them to a sheet pan or flat dish.
  • Spray the spears with olive oil and toss them together with the spices, salt, pepper and grated parmesan cheese.
  • Place the asparagus spears into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Cook for 6 minutes, tossing the basket halfway through. This is for medium-thick spears. If your spears are thin, they will cook for less time.
  • Serve asparagus with a sprinkle of freshly grated parmesan cheese and lemon wedges for garnishing.

Notes

  • Choose fresh asparagus with a bright green color and a firmer texture.
  • Trim off the woody ends of the asparagus before cooking.
  • Line the air fryer with parchment paper, if desired.
  • Spray the asparagus in olive oil before adding the parmesan cheese to help the cheese to stick and create a crispy coating.
  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese will have a better flavor and texture than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking to ensure the asparagus cooks evenly.
  • Place the asparagus in a single layer in the air fryer basket, cooking in batches if needed.
  • Doneness can be adjusted to your preference. Shorten the cooking time if you prefer the asparagus to be crisp, and extend the cooking time for more tender spears.
