In a medium bowl, whisk together marinade ingredients. Add shrimp and marinate in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes.
Place skewers in a shallow baking dish filled with cold water. Soak for 15 minutes.
Add shrimp to skewers, approximately 4-6 shrimp per skewer.
Heat grill or grill pan over high heat. Once hot, grill shrimp skewers for approximately 5 minutes on each side. Remove from grill once pink and opaque. Add to serving platter and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
Notes
If using wooden skewers, make sure to soak them in water for 30 mins, to avoid them burning when grilled.
Go with peeled and deveined shrimp, to make life easier - less fuss!
Be care when skewering the shrimp that you don't skewer your hands, take it slow!
Skewers usually take about 4-6 shrimp.
Use a preheated grill.
Add some chili flakes to the dipping sauce for a spicy kick!
You can use an outdoor grill, grill pan, or broiler to make these delicious Shrimp Skewers.
Keeping the tail on the shrimp makes for a nicer presentation but is not essential, you can remove them.
Sprinkle the cooked shrimp with cilantro, and serve with the spicy dipping sauce.
