This incredible bang-bang shrimp air fryer recipe is the perfect appetizer or main dish. Crispy, crunchy air fryer panko shrimp is fried to golden perfection with just a spritz of oil then drizzled with a creamy and spicy sauce for bang bang shrimp.
Pat dry the shrimp with a paper towel and keep it aside.
In a medium bowl, combine cornstarch, salt and paprika. Mix it well.
Coat the shrimp in cornstarch mixture first, then dip it in buttermilk and finally dredge in the panko breadcrumbs until well coated and keep it in a parchment paper. Repeat the same with the remaining shrimp.
Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
Arrange the shrimp single layer on the basket and air fry for 5 minutes, flip to the other side, and air fry further for 5 more minutes until shrimp turns crispy and golden.
Meanwhile, prepare the bang bang sauce by combining mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha sauce and honey in a bowl until well combined.
Drizzle the bang bang sauce over the shrimp and garnish with chopped parsley and serve.
Notes
If using frozen shrimp be sure to defrost them completely.
Dry the shrimp well before beginning the coating process.
Use one hand for wet ingredients and one hand for dry when coating the shrimp.
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. The shrimp will get crispier if they don’t overlap.
Cook the air fryer panko shrimp in batches if necessary.
Don’t overcook the shrimp.
Make a double batch of the sauce for bang bang shrimp or make it in advance. It will keep in the fridge for a week.
